James Barrese

Senior Vice President, Fintech Intuit

James Barrese joined Intuit as the Senior Vice President of Fintech in September 2023. He heads an organization comprised of product and development teams that aim to fuel prosperity globally for small businesses and the self-employed by leveraging the power of millions of customers for the prosperity of each individual.

With more than 30 years of technology experience that spans banking, commerce, payments, the military, academic world, business consulting, enterprise platforms and
infrastructure, James Barrese has broad experience in digital transformations, financial systems, high performance processing systems, security, infrastructure and developing innovative product solutions for consumers and businesses that are critical to his role.

Prior to joining Intuit, he served as the CTO for Chime, a Fintech company founded on the premise that basic banking services should be helpful, easy and free. James has also held significant leadership positions, including serving as PayPal's Global CTO and Senior Vice President of Payment Services Business, and as Vice President of Technology at eBay, where he led several strategic technology initiatives, including delivering open platforms, creating infrastructure services, systems software, 3rd party developer ecosystems, enterprise analytics, and overall site operations running the world’s largest marketplace at scale.

James earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University. He's based in
Silicon Valley. He also served in the U.S. Army and currently serves as an independent
director for Visteon, the leading automotive technology company delivering the next
generation of digital cockpits and electronic control systems for the world’s top
automobile manufacturers.
